Brokers Assistance Inc. breaks into expat market

new website health insurance

An insurance company in the US has recently launched a website dedicated to expatriate health insurance.

Brokers Assistance Inc. has picked up on the fact the baby-boomer generation in the US is reaching retirement age many are looking to retire abroad. As a result they have created a website dedicated to people who are working or living overseas.

The website, American Insurance for Expats (AIE), has been created in response to market demands. The company behind the website has been providing domestic health insurance for many years but wanted to develop an international health insurance product.

“Health insurance can be an intimidating issue for most people and when you start to add the elements of Medicare and how living internationally will affect their current policies, people are generally overwhelmed and confused,” said Rudy Deutschmann, company founder.

The website provides a variety of coverage options including long-term permanent residency plans, adventure travel, teaching or missionary insurance among others. Users can compare insurance from a variety of specialized providers.

International health insurance providers

Some of the biggest international health insurance providers are Bupa International, AXA PPP Healthcare, Aetna International, April Medibroker (insurance brokers) and Cigna.

There are also local insurance providers such as Brokers Assistance Inc. who are based in Westminster, Colorado.

Whether you choose a large, multinational company or a local insurer is up to you. Two things to consider when choosing your insurer, however, are their financial strength and experience. You want an insurer that can cover your claims, look for one with a credit rating of at least A or A- as assigned by AM Best rating Agency.

You also want an insurer that has experience providing global health coverage and is available 24/7 365 days a year. You can judge your administrator on several factors such as, the number of members covered, languages offered, countries covered and the availability of medical providers.
