Aetna and Starr China launched their redesigned insurance plan, UltraCare, last month. The series of products is aimed at helping expatriates in China, as well as Chinese nationals, to access high-quality healthcare.
Expats and Chinese nationals will be able to access health care locally and globally, with an optional USA extension, through four flexible health plans – UltraCare Standard, UltraCare Select, UltraCare Comprehensive and UltraCare Elite.
“In response to the Chinese government’s call for better commercial health insurance products, and in recognition of the huge unmet needs from consumers, we have upgraded UltraCare to ensure it remains the market-leading product for health coverage and proactive health management at a competitive price,” said Dr. Yehong Zhang, general manager of Aetna International, Greater China.
Benefits of the UltraCare plans include cancer treatment coverage, including palliative care, congenital conditions, and vision and hearing tests, as well as increased dental limits and outpatient benefits.
“With UltraCare, we are delivering a flexible and customizable product that appeals to both expatriates and Chinese nationals while providing the strength and peace of mind of a global healthcare network.”
Other features include medical evacuation and repatriation across all four plans and free coverage for a second, third and fourth child up to age 18. The Comprehensive and Elite plans also offer an emergency compassionate visit to see a family member who is seriously ill or who has died. Optional maternity cover is ideal for expat families, and policyholders can access Red24, a worldwide travel advice and assistance network.
All aspects of the policy handling, billing, and claims are carried out in China with bilingual staff on hand to assist policyholders.
“We are proud to partner with Aetna International to offer comprehensive health insurance solutions within China and to provide our customers with convenience and security,” commented Xiao Chen, president and general manager of Starr China.
