Aviva has expanded its products, adding four countries to its portfolio.

Aviva has been working to expand its international private medical insurance options for clients, adding four popular expat destinations to its portfolio. Customers can now buy fully compliant cover for Bahrain, Jordan, and the Netherlands as well as take advantage of enhanced benefits in Dubai.

Jordan and Bahrain have both been added to Aviva’s Gulf Solutions, international health insurance packages designed for the Gulf region. Launched in early 2014, Gulf Solutions already offers compliant policies for corporate clients with employees in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. Individual clients can also purchase cover in Oman and the UAE.

The addition of Bahrain and Jordan to Gulf Solutions will add flexibility, particularly for clients whose employees work across several Gulf countries or who travel between them frequently. Aviva also highlighted that all Gulf Solutions members are able to access benefits if they travel outside the region.

Regulatory requirements vary across the Gulf region, but health insurance in increasingly becoming a mandatory requirement for work visas. In Jordan, Aviva has partnered with Arab Orient Insurance Company and in Bahrain with the Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company, both members of the Gulf Insurance Group.

Aviva’s enhanced benefits for expatriates in Dubai and the other Emirates to reflect the changing regulations put in place by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). These include maternity cover as standard, to comply with the new rules.

Aviva has also teamed up with Dutch insurer OZF Achmea to provide insurance for expats living in the Netherlands and also for when travelling outside the country. The plans are suitable for individual and corporate clients living or working in the country.

Under Dutch law, expats are normally required to have compulsory Dutch national health insurance provided by a local insurer. Through Aviva’s new collaboration with OZF Achmea, members in the Netherlands can be covered by the local insurer at reduced rates, as well as benefiting from cover provided by Aviva’s International Solutions if they travel to other countries, with a significant reduction in standard rates.

Head of International at Aviva UK Health, Teresa Rogers, says, “This expanded offer for our members in the Gulf region and the Netherlands continues our programme to develop our global footprint in key expatriate markets and to deliver quality healthcare cover that fully complies with local legislation.”
