Aviva launches a mobile app for its International Solutions members.

Aviva has launched a new smartphone app exclusively for its International Solutions customers. The UK-developed app gives users access to their securely-stored medical records, details on how to make a claim, and immediate access to emergency services and health advice.

The free International Solutions app has been designed in partnership with Medelinked, who developed Aviva’s My Health Passport online medical records system.

The app is designed to give clients peace of mind that when they are abroad they can quickly and safely access and share their medical records. A range of medical details can be added such as allergies, medications, immunisations and test results. Pictures of X-rays and scans can also be uploaded to the app.

Teresa Rogers, head of international at Aviva UK Health said: “Our international customers are increasingly mobile across the globe and remote working on mobile devices has become the norm, so we’re delighted to be able to improve customers’ experience of their International Solutions cover by providing them with safe mobile access to their personal medical records and round-the-clock health services.

Customers can also update their records and share all, or selected parts, with medical professionals. You can choose which parts you want stored in the Emergency Records area, which is password-protected, although a designated family member or colleague can access in an emergency situation.

The app also provides support for expats abroad, allowing them to call the 24-hour helpline for emergency assistance and medical advice. There is also a list of healthcare providers for your region. This news comes a week after Allianz Worldwide Care launched their MyHealth app, which offers an easy way from customers to make a claim while abroad. It includes similar features to the Aviva app, such as medical advice, and access to emergency services. Insurance companies working with globally mobile customers and looking for ways to connect and provide useful products are increasingly making use of mobile technology to get ahead of the competition.

“The launch of the app is the next stage of Aviva’s digitisation of its International Solutions offer and it will provide customers with greater convenience and flexibility in accessing healthcare and sharing vital medical records with providers, wherever they are in the world.”
