International health insurance provider AXA PPP International has added a new medical case management system for its International Health Plan customers. Policyholders may choose whether or not to use the service, provided by Medix Medical Services Europe (Medix).
Medix is an independent specialist provider of case management services. It uses panels of health experts to review members’ cases and develop treatment plans. Each case is assigned to a team that works with the customer’s local care provider to collect relevant medical information and then move forward with a treatment plan.
Andrew Combs, Managing Director of AXA PPP International, said the Medix service would “help ensure (International Health Plan customers’) treatment plans are devised and implemented in accordance with best practice – wherever they may be in the world.”
The Medix service is included in International Health Plan members’ policy benefits, but they must “pre-authorize” treatment plans drawn up by Medix with AXA PPP in order to “activate” the service.
AXA PPP International is a subsidiary of France’s AXA PPP, a global insurance group. Envisioned from the very beginning as an international firm, AXA’s name was selected because it is easily recognized and pronounced in most languages. In 2010, AXA was ranked 9th on Fortune’s Global 500 list. Bloomberg consensus estimates forecast a significant improvement in AXA’s 2011 and 2012 revenues compared to 2010. (Website)
Medix was established in 2006 to provide a number of healthcare solutions, including global medical case management and home care. Its “integrated response” to industry challenges aims to better manage healthcare costs, customer needs and access to care. (Website)
